Barcelona’s cultural calendar for 2026 promises a year rich in ideas, forms and perspectives. Once again, the Articket BCN museums present an outstanding programme that spans centuries and disciplines: from Romanesque sculpture to modern design, from textile experimentation to contemporary reflections on beauty. Here are six major exhibitions that will shape the artistic conversation in the city throughout the year.
MACBA
✦ Aurèlia Muñoz. Ens
This comprehensive retrospective revisits the work of Aurèlia Muñoz, a key figure in contemporary textile art in Catalonia and beyond. The exhibition traces her career from early collages and pictorial embroidery to monumental macramé structures and handmade paper installations, many of which have never been exhibited before. Drawings and working models complete a show that reveals the conceptual and material depth of her practice.
📅 5 November 2026 – 29 March 2027
Fundació Joan Miró
✦ Charlotte Perriand
A major retrospective devoted to one of the most influential designers and architects of the 20th century. Charlotte Perriand defended a vision in which art, architecture and design merged to transform everyday life. One of the few women to hold a strong voice in Le Corbusier’s Atelier, her work is presented here as central to modernism, highlighting her dialogue with architecture, social commitment and innovative use of materials.

✦ The Cult of Beauty
What do we mean when we talk about beauty? This exhibition invites visitors to expand their perception beyond simple binaries such as beautiful/ugly or natural/artificial. Through artworks, documents and immersive installations, The Cult of Beauty explores how ideals of beauty have been constructed across cultures and historical periods, and how they shape bodies, identities and collective imaginaries.

✦ Sant Pere de Rodes and the Master of Cabestany: The Construction of a Myth
An ambitious exhibition dedicated to the Master of Cabestany, one of the most brilliant and enigmatic Romanesque sculptors, often described as the Picasso of the 12th century. Featuring over a hundred works—including sculpture, painting, illuminated manuscripts, drawings and documents—the exhibition reconstructs the symbolic and artistic universe surrounding the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and its enduring myth.
📅 19 March – 29 June 2026
Museu Tàpies
✦ Àngel Jové. De intactu
This large-scale retrospective offers an intimate and multifaceted look at the work of Àngel Jové, an artist who moved freely between Arte Povera, informalism and conceptual art. The exhibition brings together drawings, photographs, films and sculptures, highlighting both the experimental nature of his practice and its strong interdisciplinary dimension within the artistic context of his time.
📅 19 March – 27 September 2026
Museu Picasso
✦ Picasso: The Architect
Architecture, painting and sculpture are deeply intertwined in Picasso’s work, particularly in his reflections on space throughout the 20th century. This exhibition explores those connections through artworks, archival materials and a virtual project that imagines a Picasso museum, developed with the support of the FABA Foundation. A fresh perspective on Picasso’s creative universe and its spatial imagination.
