Art as a family with Articket: a game to play together

Cultural activities with the family often mean allowing the little ones to feel free to ask questions and, above all, making sure that the visit to the museum isn’t just “going to see paintings”, but rather entering a space for play, conversation and shared imagination. At Articket we like to think that this is our superpower: offering open and convenient access to Barcelona’s six major art museums, free of charge for children under 16, so that families can experience their own adventures.

Learning to look: what museums teach us at all ages

Museums are places where children can exercise something as essential as observation. In an exhibition hall, every detail invites discovery: a painting can open up conversations about colours and textures, and a sculpture can awaken memories of a school experience or an emotion that’s hard to describe.

When we ask “what do you see?”, it’s often the response of the youngest children that is the most delightful and revealing. Art becomes conversation, and conversation becomes mutual discovery. For adults, visiting museums with children is an opportunity to engage with art in a less rigid way, and for children, it’s an experience of symbolic freedom: here, everything can be questioned and reinterpreted. It’s an exercise in sensitivity, empathy and personal perspective. And that perspective, if taken care of, can last a lifetime.

In this sense, Articket is an open door —and literally too, because it’s free for under-16s— to six of the city’s most exciting art museums (MACBA, MNAC, Fundació Joan Miró, CCCB, Museu Tàpies and Museu Picasso). An invitation to explore Barcelona as a laboratory of ideas and to turn cultural outings with the family into a shared, living, everyday adventure… at your own pace.

And speaking of exploring… this year we’re back at the Culturista Festival!

For the third consecutive year, on November 22 and 23 we will be taking part in the Culturista Festival, the cultural festival par excellence for curious families. Which will include a workshop that we are particularly excited about: “Pocket Museum“.

The idea is simple: to create a portable and personal museum. During the workshop, we will sharpen our eyesight, develop our tastes and move our fingers to experiment and create art with our hands. Inspired by artists such as Calder, Eames, Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Matisse, we will assemble a transportable and removable sculpture, as if it were a pocket museum.

Sessions: Saturday 22 at 11.30 am, 1 pm, 4.30 pm and 6 pm // Sunday 23 at 12 pm, 1.30 pm, 4 pm and 5.30 pm.
Location: Nau Bostik
Duration: 60 min.
From 5 years old.
🎟️ Registration here. Limited places (includes child + accompanying adult).

Articket offers you a space to grow as a family and the Pocket Museum is an ideal gateway to begin (or continue) this adventure. Will we see you there?
